Anca Petrei is a multidisciplinary artist born in Romania and based in Logroño, Spain. Her work moves between textile art, design, stage costume, and art direction, creating universes where beauty intertwines with social critique. Through an obsessive exploration of aesthetics and her escapist need for the surreal, she weaves stories about the body, identity, and belonging.
Using textiles as a territory of resistance, Anca approaches materials with the same precision with which she deconstructs hegemonic discourses. Her creative process is rooted in the transgression of established visual codes, employing irony to produce pieces that oscillate between the seductive and the unsettling. Softman 3000, one of her most notable projects, challenges gender stereotypes through a parody of marketing and consumer culture.
As a costume designer, she views attire as an extension of the character and a narrative tool in itself. Her work in theater, in collaboration with companies such as Realidad Traviesa, allows her to explore the intersection between body, space, and textile, always seeking a poetics of costume that enhances the scenic discourse.
Currently, she combines her artistic production with research and experimentation in the field of design, constantly seeking new visual languages that amplify her critical perspective and commitment to creative dissent.
